I have made a significant update on this post. The updated part is at the end of the text, in the section called : “Research on chlorination”. In this update, there is an explanation on the trade-off that is the Hercosett process : less damage on the structure of the wool fibre and the possibility to machine wash knits, but to the cost of important environmental damages.
I am currently still working on the part 3, which focuses entirely on the toxicity of the chlorination process. It is taking me a long time to research and write this part 3 post. In my opinion, it is worth the delay. Please bear with me!
